Bad News turns to Good News

First some bad news.

After struggling with a recurring back injury, our club Captain, John Millar, finally heeded medical advice and opted to hang up his playing boots.  Being a PE teacher by day, John had to think of his career and with regret, we accepted his decision.  John always brought a positive vocal presence to the park and was a great encourager to the other lads.  He was a solid Captain and knew what the manager wanted brought to the game.  His place in the central defence was a perfect place for him to control the team which he did with ease.

But while this was indeed bad news for the club, we weren’t going to let it be the end of the story.

So, time for the good news!

We’re thrilled to announce that John has joined our coaching staff to maintain that positive influence but from the touchline.  He will assist in training sessions with Jason, and will also take time to visit other games to scout out prospective new talent for the club, reporting to manager Gordon Herd accordingly.  Gordon says “we’re pleased to have John on board to help with coaching and it’s going to be a good help having someone you can trust going to watch games”.  In addition, John will assist with the youth development teams as he is able, supporting the coaches in their training sessions.

We’re thrilled to maintain John’s services at the club as he is someone that truly gets what it means to play for Camelon Juniors.  Long may his association with us continue.
