The 2018/19 season has been full of new experiences for the mighty Mariners of Camelon, as we’ve taken our first steps into senior football. But as well as celebrating 2 Cup wins so far, a guaranteed Scottish Cup place next season, and a place in next seasons new East of Scotland Premier league, matters off the field have hit the headlines.
On two occasions, CJFC has benefited from admin errors on the part of other teams, involving them fielding ineligible players. We won’t drag up the details again but we can exclusively reveal that once again, the mighty Mariners have benefited from yet another admin error.
So, we are thrilled to announce that on Saturday 18 May, the players and staff of Camelon Juniors will represent the United Kingdom in Tel Aviv, Israel, at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The surprise call up came direct from Contest Executive Yadsloof Lirpa, following the discovery of voting issues in the public vote that took place on 8 February to choose Michael Rice to sing “Bigger than us” in the final.
Instead, our lads will take to the stage to sing a new rendition of Jim Hendry’s The Mariners Song. The exact arrangement is being kept under wraps so in the meantime, here’s the well used version sung by Tony Beattie to get your toes tapping.
Enjoy this special day 😉
