Camelon Juniors make history

During our East of Scotland Qualifying League match against Eyemouth today, Camelon Juniors once again proved the strength of, and commitment to, our player pathway.  In the 79th minute of the match, and with Camelon leading 7-0, 15 year old Marc Thomson, goalkeeper with our 2003 team, came on as a substitute.  As a result, Marc became the youngest player to step out onto the park for the First Team.  And in the 11 minutes he played, he maintained the clean sheet that first team goalkeeper Dean Shaw had held.

This is a real success for the work the club is striving to do through all our clubs from the 2009’s up to the under 20s and into the First Team itself.  Head of Youth, Gary Clark, said “I am extremely proud of the young lad and the growing player pathway we have.”

After the match, the East of Scotland League tweeted that they thought he might be the “youngest player to date to feature in our league”.  That hasn’t been challenged so we’ll take it!  What an honour for the club and for Marc himself. Onwards and upwards for all.  #weareCJFC #itswhoweare
