Following multiple postponements of our 3rd round Scottish Junior Cup match at Sauchie, and the further postponement of a friendly against West Calder, the mighty Mariners finally played football outside of training in December!
On Monday evening, we travelled to Broadwood Park to play Cumbernauld Colts in a friendly. All was good and the match started to everyones relief!
It was goalless at half time but the Mariners certainly had the better chances to break the deadlock.
Stand out performances noted from Ryan Kane, Reece Duncan and Alan Docherty.
As if that wasn’t enough, two of our own Under 19’s players made their first team debut in the match. 17 year olds Sam Colley & Derek Taylor acquitted themselves well and will benefit greatly from the experience. Well done lads.
Sadly, the decision was taken at half time to call the match to a close as areas of the Broadwood astro turf were frozen. But it was still a good run out to get the lads playing competitively again ahead of the most likely opportunity for the Sauchie match to go ahead this Saturday.
