Partnership with Player Data Ltd

Camelon Juniors FC are delighted to partner with sector leading analytics company Player Data Ltd.

Every first team player will be tracked and monitored during training and games using the very latest GPS technology.

This will take us to the next level in terms of professionalism, injury prevention and player accountability.

This is a hugely exciting development and a clear indication of our on pitch standards moving forward.

First Team Staff News

Camelon Juniors are sad to announce the departure of Jason Bolam from our coaching staff.

Jason has been an integral part of the club development over the past 2 seasons and has always looked for new training methods for the lads during the week. He often came to training sessions fresh from coaching young players in the Little Kerse family, but tirelessly went from one group to another, always giving his all.

In announcing the change to his coaching staff, manager Gordon Herd said, “I’d like to thank Jason for his efforts over the last two seasons and wish him the best on whatever he does next.”

Going forwards, Gordon will continue to work with Eamon Fullerton and John Millar, with the assistance of Ali Jenkins for goalkeeper training and Emma Harper as physio.

First Team Staff News – Emma Harper

Camelon Juniors FC are pleased to announce that our Physio, Emma Harper, has agreed to stay with us for next season. Emma joined us this year having previously been at Bo’ness, and has been a great support to our young team.

Emma is often unseen but is working away in the background. She supports every training session by setting up in the changing room to deal with any injuries that need attention and is poised and ready at every match in case of any injuries to the players. This sometimes means she has nothing to do, but she still faithfully supports just in case.

Obviously we would rather we didn’t need her (!!) but injuries happen especially with the players all having other jobs as well. Her support and encouragement to players who are desperate to play is much needed, as otherwise they may be tempted to make themselves available to play and cause more damage.

We’re really grateful that Emma is remaining with us as we move forwards in the club development.

Youth Development News

Camelon Juniors can confirm that we will be entering an under 20s team into the East of Scotland League from the start of the 2018/19 season. Our coaches have been taking in several fixtures from this league over the last few months and they believe we will be entering a strong league with a great pedigree of developing the best of young talent in Scotland.

Head of Youth Development Gary Clark said, “I am very excited going forward with the formation of our under 20s  development team. I think it presents a fantastic opportunity for the club, for the development of our players and any new players coming in to join us at Camelon Juniors. It also gives the club a great player pathway option and entry into the Scottish Youth Cup where we can test ourselves against the best in the country. Overall I strongly feel that having players playing in the development league will further help to strengthen the first team in years to come.  It will also give these players a platform to perform and really show what they can do against other top development teams.”

Training Montage

After a week off due to the Beast from the East, our normal training programme resumed this week so here’s our training montage video that seems to be spurring the players on.  After anything vaguely special they are now asking if we captured it on film!  What started as a bit of fun seems to be a real motivational tool for the lads.  So, if it ain’t broke….!  Enjoy

Bad News turns to Good News

First some bad news.

After struggling with a recurring back injury, our club Captain, John Millar, finally heeded medical advice and opted to hang up his playing boots.  Being a PE teacher by day, John had to think of his career and with regret, we accepted his decision.  John always brought a positive vocal presence to the park and was a great encourager to the other lads.  He was a solid Captain and knew what the manager wanted brought to the game.  His place in the central defence was a perfect place for him to control the team which he did with ease.

But while this was indeed bad news for the club, we weren’t going to let it be the end of the story.

So, time for the good news!

We’re thrilled to announce that John has joined our coaching staff to maintain that positive influence but from the touchline.  He will assist in training sessions with Jason, and will also take time to visit other games to scout out prospective new talent for the club, reporting to manager Gordon Herd accordingly.  Gordon says “we’re pleased to have John on board to help with coaching and it’s going to be a good help having someone you can trust going to watch games”.  In addition, John will assist with the youth development teams as he is able, supporting the coaches in their training sessions.

We’re thrilled to maintain John’s services at the club as he is someone that truly gets what it means to play for Camelon Juniors.  Long may his association with us continue.

Youth Fitness Programme

Here’s a photo of our 17s and 19s teams being informed of their new fitness programme with our new fitness coach Allan Fleming this week.

This new programme will create a personalised body composition analysis for each player as well as a bit of dietary education to further help them develop. This help us to tailor a personal strength programme for each player based on their individual needs.

This analysis will happen on a monthly basis and Allan will be delivering fitness sessions every week with the 17s and 19s too.  Great to have you on board Allan.
